After the fiasco in Florida with hanging chads back in 2000 the federal government spent more than $3 Billion on providing electronic voting machines.

There have been reported case of Republican votes being
tabulated as Democrat votes in two states still using machines

Now, most states are reverting back to manual systems of casting ballots by hand because most machines are over a decade old and have not been maintained or replaced due to lack of funds. The electronic equipment wears out quickly making them nonfunctional.

You get a receipt using an ATM, but try getting one using a voting machine. This is the 21st century for Pete's sake. Smart bombs, smart missiles, smart everything else but voting.
