Secret Personal Waste of Taxpayer Money

Work for the U.S. Government and spend money on yourself at the taxpayer's expense. Even buy yourself a gym membership.

Employees of the federal government spent at least $20 billion in taxpayer money this year on items and services that it is permitted to keep secret from the public, according to an investigation by the News4 I-Team a TV station in Washington, D.C.

The purchases, known among federal employees as “micropurchases,” are made by some of the thousands of agency employees who are issued taxpayer-funded purchase cards. The purchases, in most cases, remain confidential and are not publicly disclosed by the agencies.

A sampling of those purchases, obtained by the I-Team via the Freedom of Information Act, reveals at least one agency used those cards to buy $30,000 in Starbucks Coffee drinks and products in one year without having to disclose or detail the purchases to the public.

Anti-America Media you pay for

The new pro-America, "One America News Network" outperforms Al-Jazeera America by more than 3 to 1 yet for some reason liberal cable entities like Comcast choose to put Al-Jazeera America on the air and not pro-America type networks like One America News.

All the news that creates a fit - Play on NYT motto

Co Polacy zawsze wiedzieli

U.S. Government Center for Disease Control finally comes around to say Ebola is a lot easier to catch than health officials have admitted. It can be contracted by contact with a doorknob contaminated by a sneeze from an infected person for up to several hours.

How many Americans does it take to spread Ebola?

The CDC originally said it doesn't spread at all by air, but now they admit that these sneeze droplets may land on objects and can be transmitted that way.

Shhhh !

Some stuff like state secrets have to remain secret. Some information is absolutely critical to keep out of the hands of nations of organization that may poise a threat.

In the U.S. part of a website called "The Intercept" is all about leaking vital state secrets and any other critical information they can get their hands on to the point of detriment to national security.

In Poland there is no such "Snowdenite" platform for dissemination of top secret documents and communiques.

The worst leak in Polish government over the past few years occurred back in June when Wprost published the transcripts of private conversations ministers were having concerning important issues.

In one chat, between Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski and Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski, they refer to British PM David Cameron’s promise to re-negotiate the terms of the UK’s membership in the EU saying:

"... the only way Poland would agree to let the UK change its EU terms - an EU consensus decision - is if Britain or Germany gave it “a mountain of gold”.

“The Brits won’t give it to us, and the Germans, in order to keep the Brits on board, won’t give it to us either in all likelihood. So the [Polish] answer [to the UK] will be: fuck off’,” Rostowski says.

I might be a disgrace to have that private conversation known - but it's not a threat to Poland's security or financial well-being. The American website however could sink ships.

Hillary & Dementia

Presidential Material?
Today Hillary Clinton appeared at a Boston rally for Democrat gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley telling the crowd not to listen to anybody who says that “businesses create jobs.”

“Don’t let anybody tell you it’s corporations and businesses create jobs,” Clinton said.

“You know that old theory, ‘trickle-down economics,’” she continued. “That has been tried, that has failed. It has failed rather spectacularly.”

Mmmm, she probably doesn't remember Reagan and how he turned around the Democrat mess of the Carter years.

Who's vote is it anyway?

Votes from non-citizens could decide some November elections.

Al Franken Democrat Senator from Minnesota won his election in 2008 with a victory margin of just 312 votes. Obama’s 2008 victory in North Carolina was decided by only 14,177 votes.

Illegal votes cast by non-citizens could make the difference which party controls the upper house. Democrats say voting by non-citizens are so rare as to be inconsequential, and that efforts by mostly Republicans to block fraud by requiring I.D. prevent poor and minority voters from exercising the franchise.

while others define such incidents as a threat to democracy itself. Both sides depend more heavily on anecdotes than data.

In a forthcoming article in the journal Electoral Studies, we bring real data from big social science survey datasets to bear on the question of whether, to what extent, and for whom non-citizens vote in U.S. elections. Most non-citizens do not register, let alone vote. But enough do that their participation can change the outcome of close races.

The Cooperative Congressional Election Study (CCES) collected data on illegals who are registered and illegals that actually voted. Some believe as much as 6.4 percent of non-citizens voted in the 2008 Presidential Election.

Illegals it is deemed tend to cast ballots for Democrats (Obama won more than 80 percent of the votes of non-citizens in the 2008 CCES sample). It is  plausible illegals could have thrown elections in favor of Democrats in a few close elections. 60 Senators are all that is needed to block filibusters. Enactment of laws in Congress that are opposed by a majority of Americans could be a result of illegal votes.

#ThanksObama

Social media has proven to be the most effective way for students to bring attention to their new “healthy” school lunches.

First Lady Michelle Obama's school food program is being dropped by many districts because kids refuse to eat what is served.

Who elected her to anything anyway?

See spoof video below and then the second video on how French students are fed.

Just use your card

Food stamp fraud was supposed to be eliminated with Electronic Benefits Cards (EBT) replacing the old paper coupons that were issued.

But even the modern day plastic cards can double as currency for drug dealers who will trade almost anything for their product.

Shady businesses and drug dealers will buy electronic benefits cards for half the amount loaded onto the card. From there, people use the cash to buy drugs, according to Eric Wolf, agent in charge with the Ohio Investigative Unit, which investigates food stamp fraud.

142 stores in Ohio have been permanently disqualified for food stamp fraud in the past 5 years -- a number that probably doesn't even begin to scratch the surface.

Just a dozen states require drug testing for food stamp recipients according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Ohio isn't one of them. Ohio allows convicted drug offenders to obtain food assistance, and recent efforts to require drug testing in welfare benefits have not passed.

From the Washington Times: More than a dozen lucky rabbits were given Swedish massages four times a day, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, as part of a study to figure out whether massage can help recovery times after strenuous exercise — a practice Sen. Tom Coburn says makes a mockery of federal spending.

The rabbit massages are one of the hundred wasteful products Mr. Coburn, an Oklahoma Republican, identified in his latest edition of the Wastebook, an annual compendium of the ridiculous and outrageous items in government spending, which he is releasing on Wednesday.

Other highlights included the National Science Foundation paying academics to teach monkeys to gamble, government sponsorship of a children’s play about brain-eating zombies and a first-person combat shooting video game the Army developed — but which intelligence officials fear terrorists could use to train their own recruits. Indeed, Hezbollah has adapted the game’s design to train suicide martyrs.

Nazi retirement paid by U.S.

Nazi war crime suspects who moved or were deported after living in the U.S. kept their Social Security benefits according to government records.

The AP reports among those who benefited:

—armed SS troops who guarded the Nazi network of camps where millions of Jews perished.

—an SS guard who took part in the brutal liquidation of the Warsaw ghetto in Nazi-occupied Poland that killed as many as 13,000 Jews.

—a Nazi collaborator who engineered the arrest and execution of thousands of Jews in Poland.

The AP's findings are the result of more than two years of interviews, research and analysis of records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act and other sources.
